Warning to Avanti Shareholders - Unsolicited Calls

Avanti has become aware that recently a number of shareholders have received unsolicited phone calls from ‘brokers’ who are not registered with the FSA.  In these calls, the ‘brokers’ offer to buy their shares at inflated values as part of a purported acquisition of the company. In addition, there have been instances of unregistered ‘brokers’ making unsolicited calls offering non-shareholders the opportunity to buy shares in the company.  These ‘brokers’ have been using assumed names and can be very persistent. Avanti believes that the primary intention of these calls is to defraud the call’s recipient.

Please be very wary of such calls. If you receive any unsolicited calls, please ensure that you get the correct name of the person and organisation and check that they are properly authorised by the FSA by visiting www.fsa.gov.uk. Overseas firms are outside of the remit of the Financial Services Authority so, if you deal with an unauthorised firm, you will not be eligible to receive payment under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
