At Avanti, giving back to the community is something close to our hearts.
We understand the importance of connectivity in empowering people, strengthening communities and giving back to the regions we work in. Our business practices and policies reflect our commitment to making a positive impact and this commitment governs how we operate and underpins why our employees come to work every day.
Built on our existing community work and education projects, we’re proud to introduce Project Heart, our CSR initiative. Through developing programmes and forming partnerships with governments and humanitarian organisations, we are breaking down geographical and socio-economic barriers to opportunity. Our social initiatives are focused on efforts to further welfare, entrepreneurship, education and humanitarian aid. We have the technology and the heart to liberate potential and transform lives.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
Avanti is proud to collaborate with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to bring connectivity to refugee settlements in Uganda.
million people have been forced to flee their country.
people are displaced daily.
of the world’s refugees live in the world’s least developed regions.
Seven sites in refugee settlements in Uganda will be connected, including two in Bidi Bidi, one of the largest in the world. This builds on Avanti’s existing donation in Bidi Bidi, where we connected the livelihoods charity the Social Innovation Academy (SINA) in 2019.
Avanti will be connecting UNHCR Protection Units, technology centres and community centres, providing refugees and host communities with access to information, humanitarian and livelihood services.
Our first Momentum partnership is with The Social Innovation Academy (SINA). SINA educates former orphans, street children, refugees and other disadvantaged youth in Uganda to become job creators and social entrepreneurs.
Avanti has donated solar connectivity, bandwidth and laptops to SINA’s site in Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, Uganda. SINA empowers refugees to learn, create and generate profits through entrepreneurship and Avanti is proud to be supporting the organisation in connecting people to opportunities.
The Unwritten Rules Programme
Avanti is thrilled to be supporting the Baroness Warsi Foundation’s employability programme, The Unwritten Rules. The programme bridges the gap between education and employment. Young people aged 16-18 years old attend a range of masterclasses ranging from cv writing and mock interviews to recruitment techniques and career pathways.
Avanti has been leading several workshops, with our volunteers leading talks and hosting mock interviews with students.
